FREE THYROID SCREENING

How can I find out if my symptoms are caused by a thyroid condition!

Almost all patients with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) or overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) can be diagnosed with a simple blood test, thyroid stimulating hormone, TSH. No special preparation is required for the test.

The pituitary gland in the brain monitors the levels of thyroid hormone in the bloodstream. TSH is released from the pituitary and stimulates the thyroid gland to liberate thyroid hormones. Normal TSH is 0.5-4.5.

TSH greater than 4.5 indicates
HYPOTHYROIDISM

TSH less than 0.5 indicates
HYPERTHYROIDISM
